2026 Polestar 42026 Jeep Recon

Safety

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Recon. But it costs extra on the Polestar 4.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Recon’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

The Jeep Recon’s 360-degree camera has integrated front and rear camera washers, ensuring clear, all-weather visibility without the need for manual cleaning. In contrast, the Polestar 4 lacks camera washers, requiring you to manually clean the cameras for optimal performance.

Both the Recon and the Polestar 4 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Jeep Recon weighs 812 to 1174 pounds more than the Polestar 4. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Recon 4 years and 50,000 miles longer than Polestar covers the 4. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Polestar 4 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 76 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Recon’s warranty.

Engine

The Recon’s electric motors produces 378 more horsepower (650 vs. 272) and 367 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 253) than the Polestar 4’s standard electric motor. The Recon’s electric motors produces 106 more horsepower (650 vs. 544) and 114 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 506) than the Polestar 4’s optional electric motors.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Recon has larger tires than the Polestar 4 (265/70R18 vs. 255/50R20).

The Recon has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Recon has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Polestar 4; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

For greater off-road capability the Recon has a 2.6 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Polestar 4 (9.1 vs. 6.5 inches), allowing the Recon to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Recon has 7.3 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Polestar 4 (111.3 vs. 104).

The Recon has 2.1 inches more front headroom, 2.8 inches more rear headroom, 1.9 inches more rear legroom and 1.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the Polestar 4.

Cargo Capacity

The Recon has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Polestar 4 with its rear seat up (30.3 vs. 18.6 cubic feet). The Recon has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Polestar 4 with its rear seat folded (65.9 vs. 54.2 cubic feet).

Towing

The Recon’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Polestar 4’s (3300 vs. 0 pounds).

Ergonomics

The Recon’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Polestar 4.

The Recon’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Polestar 4’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Recon has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Polestar 4.

Compared to the Polestar 4, the Jeep Recon eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the driver’s visor.

The Recon is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the Polestar 4, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Recon offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the Polestar 4.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the Recon equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The Polestar 4, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Jeep Recon empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

The Recon has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Recon’s Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
